Mark Ruffalo has been the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2012 The Avengers. After the Infinity Saga ended, the journey of many of the stars we saw in the first film followed. Only Hulk, Thor and Hawkeye made an appearance in Phase 4 (well Black Widow too but that was a flashback story).
Mark Ruffalo should also appear soon in the Disney+ series, She-Hulk: Lawyer, in a supporting role. The actor has played the Hulk/Bruce Banner on and off for a decade, but hasn’t had a solo project so far.
Mark Ruffalo wants a World War Hulk movie
Recently, the star was at the premiere of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and was asked various questions during the red carpet interview. One question that popped up was regarding the rumored World War Hulk movie. The star, while talking to entertainment tonightsaid he was in.
HE: “There’s a couple Easter Eggs in this thing that kind of led us into World War Hulk history, are you ready for a solo Hulk movie?”

Tatiana Maslany Says Mark Ruffalo Loves Playing Hulk
In an interview with Screen Rant, actress Tatiana Maslany, who stars in the upcoming series as She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters, opened up about her experience working with Mark Ruffalo and how the star isn’t tired of playing the Hulk, despite having been playing it for a decade now.
She shared,
“I feel like what surprised me the most – but not either, just because I know he’s such an amazing actor – is how much he comes on stage with this sense of “Everything is new.” He always seems to be exploring and experiencing it for the first time.
There’s never that “Yeah, yeah. I’ve been doing this for 10 years, and I’m calling. He is absolutely present. He’s always stretching that character and he’s always listening. And he really creates that sense on set with other actors, and with the crew and everyone, of total acting and spontaneity. And you know we’re both in mo-cap gear. And yet, we felt like two children playing.
Rumored World War Hulk
In 2021, a rumor that a film – world war hulk is in the early stages of production. But no further confirmation was given to the reports. A leaked Reddit post that talked about upcoming Marvel Studios projects even mentioned that the movie would be in the studio’s SDCC announcement list, but that didn’t happen.
Why isn’t Disney ready for a solo Hulk movie?
Although the actor openly admits that he is eagerly awaiting the call for a solo project. Among the main Avengers, he is the only one who has not starred in a solo project. We’ve seen 3 Captain America movies, 3 Iron Man movies, 4 Thor solos, and even a Loki series and a Black Widow movie, but Disney seems to be somewhat against a Mark Ruffalo solo Hulk movie.
In the past, we’ve seen solo Hulk projects. Pontoon 2003 had Eric Bana as Bruce Banner/Hulk. later one 2013 The Incredible Hulk was created with Edward Norton. But now that Marvel seems to have found their perfect Hulk in Mark Ruffalo and fans love him in the role too, the parent studio seems hesitant to give him a solo movie, world war hulk.
But it could also be due to the disrupted timeline as Hulk on Sakaar was already part of Thor: Ragnarok and Hulk is now transformed into Smart Hulk, would have brought a dilemma to the studio over how to bring the timeline back to match the comic book storyline.
But hopefully based on the future project, the actor’s dedication to the character, we could see world war hulk finally arrives. Plus, Marvel fans have always loved the balance Mark Ruffalo brought to the character and the quality of his portrayal of the Hulk. It could also serve as a date at the Mouse House to finally greenlight the project.
