The Helmet of Fate Explained
Like many magic-based comic book characters, Doctor Fate’s powers are somewhat ill-defined and tend to change depending on who is currently writing the character or who holds the title. A key point defining all versions of the character, however, is the helmet of fate that most versions of the character wear. Speaking to Total Film via GameRadar, Pierce Brosnan explained exactly what the helmet could do for Doctor Fate and how taxing it was on the character:
“He has the power to see the future, raise the dead, and teleport, all while wearing a gold helmet. … It’s a blessing and a curse. It’s almost like drug addiction in some ways. He takes a lot of energy to wear the helmet. It was a very well designed outfit and helmet, which I really like. [Director] Jaume Collet-Serra is very inclusive in the collaboration. He was wonderful in the sense that he sent me drawings of the helmet, so that I could participate in his look.
