A day after being stabbed as Rushdie was about to give a talk in upstate New York, Salman was taken off a ventilator and able to speak on Sunday.
Wylie previously claimed Rushdie, 75, had a damaged liver and severed nerves in an arm and eye. Even though Rushdie is going in the right direction with his condition, Constable Wylie warned that the author’s road to recovery will be a long one.
Speaking of his critical condition, Salman has a damaged liver, a severed nerve in his arm and an eye that could be lost.
Rushdie’s family thanked the police, medical staff and the outpouring of love and support he received during this frightening time. Likewise, they expressed their gratitude to the spectators who courageously stood up for him on the day of the attack.
While speaking to his son, Zafar Rushdie said: “Although his life-changing injuries are severe, his usual fiery and provocative sense of humor remains intact.”
