Tatiana Maslany, who stars in Marvel’s new Disney Plus series She-Hulk: Lawyerrevealed that she almost played a very different Marvel character on the big screen.
Tatiana Maslany makes her MCU debut this week with the release of She-Hulk on Disney+. However, the actress recently revealed that the series isn’t the first Marvel project she’s been in talks for.
Before being chosen to direct the MCU series, Tatiana Maslany almost appeared in Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off. Venomagainst Tom Hardy.
Speaking about her early Marvel prospects during an appearance on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast with Scott Aukerman, Tatiana Maslany revealed that she almost played She-Venom before she was cast as She-Hulk.
When Aukerman said Marvel had been trying to get Tatiana Maslany on a project for a while, the actress corrected him, saying “I tried to get them…They rejected me a couple of times.”
Aukerman then pressed the issue of Maslany’s previous interactions with Marvel and the She-Hulk The star went on to reveal the Marvel project she once tried out for:
Aukerman: “For what? What have you tried?
Maslany: “Venom. Not for Venom, unfortunately. But for Venom’s girlfriend or whatever.
Aukerman: “Venom’s girlfriend?”
Maslany: “(laughs) Yeah.”
Aukerman: “Not even Tom Hardy – Eddie Brock’s girlfriend, just Venom’s girlfriend?”
Maslany: “(laughs) Just Venom’s girlfriend. Just the symbiote’s girlfriend.
Aukerman: “Who was [Venom] trying to date someone? »
Maslany: “She was cut out. (Laughs)”
Eventually, the role of Anne Weying, the ex-girlfriend of Eddie Brock, was played by Michelle Williams in Sony Venom movies. The character is seen briefly transforming into She-Venom in the franchise’s first film, as she brings the Venom symbiote back to Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock.
Although she may have missed joining the Venom series, Tatiana Maslany is now set to lead her own Marvel series on Disney Plus. Here is the synopsis of She-Hulk: Lawyer:
“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law follows Jennifer Walters as she navigates the complicated life of a single thirty-something lawyer who also happens to be a 6-foot-7 green superpowered hulk.”
The series stars Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Benedict Wong, Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
