Kang the Conqueror is named after Nathaniel Richards in the comics. His true identity is a 31st century time traveler who is a direct descendant of Reed Richards. However, there is also a theory that connects the modern-day conqueror to Doctor Doom.

A wild theory takes root in Kang’s origins. Previous debate over whether he is the descendant of Doctor Doom or Reed Richards is resolved by a new theory claiming both! Kang the Conqueror is the descendant of these two geniuses.
It was Doctor Doom’s time travel technology that Nathaniel Richards discovered in the 31st century and used it to time travel to take Earth creating the mutant En Sabah-Nur who would later be known as mutant name Apocalypse.
But that’s not where it stops. In the comics, there is a part where Doctor Doom and Kang’s fate are linked when it is implied that Doctor Doom is a variant of Kang and not the other way around. A section of the comics also suggests that they could also be the same person!

A new theory claims that the descendants of Reed Richards and Doctor Doom later reunite and have their own bloodline. And further down the line you get Nathaniel Richards, which is the descendant of Doctor Doom and Reed Richards.
This theory, while wild, can be satisfied and is viable in the MCU. As for other news, Kang the Conqueror is the new big bad guy in the MCU’s multiversal saga. First appeared in Loki, the conqueror will play the role of the big bad in Avengers: Kang Dynasty where he will likely face off against the new Avengers.
Avengers: Kang Dynasty is slated for a May 2, 2025 release date and will be one of the MCU’s Phase 5 and 6 tie-in movies.
