Whoopi Goldberg is giving her followers an update on her health after missing a week of ‘The View’. She greeted viewers on the midday chat show on Tuesday and expressed her regret at missing it due to sciatica.
According to the Mayo Clinic, sciatica is “pain that radiates along the sciatic nerve” and spreads from the lower back to the hips and legs.
When co-host Joy Behar once remarked that Goldberg seemed rested, Goldberg replied that it was because she spent time “sleeping in a hospital room.” She also used a walker to show the audience how to use one, admitting that at first using one “got a little freaky”.
Behar informed Goldberg that she had previously suffered from sciatica and suggested stress could be a contributing factor. She became this little old woman because of her illness and felt strange.
In 2019, Goldberg missed several weeks of “The View” after being admitted to hospital with sepsis and pneumonia, and she claimed she was “very, very close to leaving Earth.”
