‘My advice is to avoid them’: Papa John’s is mocked online for bringing out pizza bowls
On Wednesday August 17, American pizza company Papa John’s unveiled Pizza Bowls – a new addition to its menu. The product, priced at $7.99, will have pizza toppings in a crustless bowl.
However, the bowls are already drawing criticism from netizens, who don’t seem to agree with the idea. In fact, one Twitter user went ahead and advised people to just “ignore” the item completely. Their Tweet said:
Papa John’s new crustless pizza dishes are basically horrible fast food casseroles. My advice is to avoid them – sPizza Bowls are currently only available to loyal Papa John’s members, but casual customers can get their hands on the product from August 22.
Papa John’s says its pizza bowls are created for those who ‘crave something new’
The bowls will hold cooked pizza ingredients including vegetables, meat, and cheese inside a bowl. For now, it comes in three varieties:
Shoppers will now have the ability to customize the ingredients in their pizza bowl.
Scott Rodriguez, senior vice president of menu strategy and product innovation for the company, underscored the motivation for the article, saying:
“Our signature crust continues to be a treasured favorite, but we recognize that sometimes customers need something different.”
He also added:
“There’s a widespread feeling that there might be a bit of pizza fatigue, because that’s all we’ve had for the past two years.”
Rodriguez also shared other thoughts on the product. Since the ingredients for the bowl are already present at franchise outlets, adding new dishes made with these existing ingredients helps avoid supply chain surprises, helping them promise availability. continuation of the product.
The item was supposed to launch six months ago, but was delayed because the manufacturer couldn’t find the packaging it needed.
Internet users troll Pizza Bowls on Twitter
Internet users do not seem too thrilled with this new concept. Many Twitter users attacked the company and the food product, with some calling the notion “stupid” and calling the brand’s pizzas “disgusting”.
Another commenter on Twitter suggested the bowls are a “workaround” to attract customers who don’t like the brand’s pizza crusts.
Some joked, admitting that even if they didn’t like the idea, they might end up eating it in the future and then regret it.
I tried Papa John’s Pizza Bowls partly out of curiosity and partly because you can develop a gluten sensitivity later in life, and they are exactly what you think they are. They scrape all the toppings from a pizza and place them in a bowl. Not even half full. Too expensive.
Another user shared a similar view and noted that the Pizza Bowl is more than likely to be “plastic bowls” filled with pizza ingredients that are microwaved before serving. They said individuals could get identical things at the store and called the new product a “scam”.
A few users were quick to notice that another franchise called Marco’s Pizza has been supplying pizza bowls for a long time and accused Papa John’s of duplicating their idea.
Hey Marco’s Pizza, did you realize Papa John’s sells your bowls and calls it there?
Despite the criticism, not everyone was against the plan. Some have pointed out that the concept of Pizza Bowls is not new and has been offered for years in local restaurants and small cafes.
@NMercad Bruh, all my neighborhood pizzerias have been offering topping bowls for years now. Papa John’s is not doing anything new.
This isn’t the first time Papa John’s has revamped its menu.
Last year, it added pepperoni stuffed crust pizza and New York-style pizza to the cards for a limited time.
