Judge Tracie Hunter was accused of backdating the filings by prosecutors, which led to a legal dispute with the Supreme Court of Ohio. Appeal dismissal charges in 2013 were brought against Hunter by the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office.
The case lasted until 2019, and the judge was suspended as soon as charges surfaced for giving her brother access to sensitive information and delaying decisions on prisoner appeals.
Tracie vehemently denied all the allegations, but the judges and jurors took the case very seriously given the gravity of the circumstances. A change of ruling judge was requested by the former judge due to his previous involvement in a collision with a woman.
All were rejected and the court appointed him a new lawyer. She finally concluded her legal fight after six arduous years, which the former judge said was nothing more than a racial slur against her.

All other charges were dismissed by the prosecution, but she was sentenced to six months in prison for leaking private information. The judge still gave her permission to avoid jail time while she appealed.
His attorney filed a federal habeas corpus petition in 2016, claiming prosecutor and judge misconduct led to an unfair trial.
Despite the allegation and strong evidence assertions against the judge, she was sentenced to six months in jail and over $30,000 in court costs.

Hunter was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami in 1988 before continuing her legal education at the University of Cincinnati Law School in 1992.
Before founding her law firm in 1994, the former Ohio judge worked as a pastor and contract attorney at the Public Defender’s Office. While at the law firm, Hunter worked on matters involving civil rights, personal injury, and real estate.

After being sentenced at the end of June 2019, Tracie Hunter was released in October of the same year and has since been an avid supporter of feminism and African Americans on social media.
The former judge is still actively talking about how the GOP wronged him and removed him from his position as a judge; she is senior pastor at Western Hills Brethren in Christ Church.
These days, Hunter seems to be tweeting both her political views and a celebration of black women’s victories and accomplishments.
