Recently, the Women’s March, on its official Twitter account, posted a long and elaborate thread to talk about Andrew Tate, Johnny Depp and Marilyn Manson. The thread also delved into a widespread sexist culture that puts women at risk. To this, Johnny Depp fans had a strong reaction, as they came to the rescue of their beloved actor and denied the claims mentioned in the thread.

The thread, which expressed its support and empathy for Heard, first touched on the case of Andrew Tate. The latter is a former professional boxer, who has drawn attention on TikTok for his controversial views and focus on the culture of toxic agitation. As for Tate, the thread mentioned how the online character was accused and accused of sexual assault. Woman’s March went on to highlight how support for Andrew Tate, despite several serious allegations, is a symptom of a widespread problem.

Here is what was said in the thread:
“But Andrew Tate is only a symptom of the problem. The fact that men like Andrew Tate are allowed to freely spread misogynistic and anti-woman views is nothing new. Sexism is as old as time and as common as dirt.
The thread then took a turn and mentioned that “Sexism and misogyny are why much of the internet believes Johnny Depp.” In showing support for Heard, Woman’s March said no one wanted to believe Amber Heard, “despite all the evidence of his [Johnny Depp’s] abuse.”

Women’s March urges people to believe women
Continuing the thread, Women’s March claimed that Depp and the actor’s friend, Marilyn Manson fans “turned to harass Rachel Wood” despite Manson documenting Wood’s abuse. Additionally, the thread mentioned that there was no hope for other women if privileged women like Wood and Amber Heard were not believed.

In the thread, the following statement was made:
“When society sees abused women as conniving bitches rather than victims and survivors, that’s rape culture and workplace misogyny… Women’s lives are at stake, every day. Believe women. Stop the violence.
While the thread garnered around 6,000 likes, the quoting tweets and counter-arguments erupted. Depp fans immediately rushed to the rescue, having their own points to make.

Expressing their support for Johnny Depp and pointing out the flaws in the wire, fans put a stop to the Women’s March’s attempt to rally support. In several tweets, fans used hashtags like #AbuseHasNoGender and #AmberHeardIsALiar to prove how the thread was needlessly trying to introduce Depp’s name into the equation among the likes of Andrew Tate and Marilyn Manson. Some have accused the Women’s March of slandering Depp.
Here are some of the tweets:
Why Johnny Depp?? He literally did nothing wrong and was cleared in court whether you or anyone else liked it or not. Leave him out of it. Stop spreading more lies about him.

Let’s talk about the women who come together to demand our human rights and not encourage accusations about court cases that have been settled. Women CAN be violent towards men. It’s just as wrong

Please watch Amber Heard’s testimonial – EVERYTHING. Directing, crossing, redirecting and the same in its case of refutation. It wasn’t believable. I can’t speak to Tate or Manson’s allegations, but Heard’s stories about Depp aren’t believable. The evidence does not match the testimony.

It’s not misogyny to acknowledge that a woman lied and perpetrated a prank to destroy someone and expect her to be held accountable. It’s just equality and keeping both genders on the same level. As a woman, I can’t stand this kind of double standard. #AbuseHasNoGender

While the unsealed court documents haven’t quieted the case, it’s clear that the issue lies far beyond the libel suit. To say things got worse would be an understatement. For now, Amber Heard plans to prepare for an appeal, following the verdict of the libel trial. What the future holds for Depp and Heard will be revealed very soon.
