She-Hulk Creator Jessica Gao Says MCU Gone From The Blip, Fans Angered For Trivializing Trauma With Lazy Writing

The first episode of She-Hulk was released last week to mixed reviews, considering its cast, character introduction, full episode, and conclusion. When a show has received mixed reviews, some positive and some negative, the show creator may only get one.

Recently, during an interview with Lifehacker Australia, Gao explained how the series will explore the blip. Speaking about her timeline in the MCU, she said it was a conscious and specific decision not to make much of the show’s blip.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Premieres August 18

She-Hulk: Lawyer follows Jennifer Walters, lawyer and cousin of Bruce Banner. She transforms into the Hulk after having an accident with her cousin. However, his transformation into the Hulk is much more stable and under control compared to Banner’s Hulk.

The first episode lays the foundation for the series, depicting how Walters became She-Hulk and returned to her usual life as a lawyer. Most of the first episode included Hulk with Walters, and many believe he took center stage in the first episode.

Some fans are also not happy with the introduction of the story’s antagonist, Titania, played by Jameela Jamil, with a preview at the end of the first episode followed by Jennifer Walter’s rapid transformation into She-Hulk.

She-Hulk won’t cover the blip

The first episode also reveals what Bruce Banner was doing during the blip and also explores the friendship between Banner and Tony Stark. So far, Hulk was the only character to mention the blip in the show.

But now, Jessica Gao has confirmed that the topic won’t be uncovered much on the show, as it has already been covered in many shows and movies.

In the interview, she said, “So many people have already traveled this territory that we have accepted it. We live in a world where this has already happened and where people have already moved forward.

Fans weren’t happy with the statement and took to Twitter to show their disappointment. A fan said, “Bruh, when half of life is erased and sent back, you don’t get over it in a few years W*F they talk about it.”

Many fans also call this move nothing but lazy writing.

MCU after Avengers: Endgame

The blip, which took place in Avengers: infinity war, disappeared half of the population on Earth. Five years later, avengers managed to get all the Infinity Stones and bring back all the ones who disappeared due to a blip without changing the course of the last five years.

The event is already covered in shows and films followed by Avengers: Endgame. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and other films that followed the events of Endgame.

What to expect from the She-Hulk cameos?

Besides the blip, Gao also warned fans not to set high expectations for the show’s latest installment because it might end up disappointing them.

The series will have several cameos, including daredevil, Wong, Abomination and Bruce Banner as the Hulk. Gao said that all of these characters who have been considered very dramatic in very serious projects will look a little different from their usual personality, and viewers will see a different side of themselves.

She-Hulk: Lawyer.

She said it would be like a comical vacation for them, where the universe is not in danger, it’s just a normal day for them and they don’t care about saving humanity.

With the first episode out and plenty to see, it would be interesting to see how these characters tie into the story and what they will bring to the show.

She-Hulk: Lawyer premiered August 18 and is available on Disney+ to stream.
