‘We owe him everything’: Fans claim House of the Dragon was made possible by Emilia Clarke’s legendary Game of Thrones Daenerys Targaryen after Foxtel CEO called Dumpy

Foxtel CEO should have thought twice

Even though game of thrones didn’t have a very good ending, it’s still considered one of pop culture’s most iconic contributions. Likewise, Daenerys Targaryen is also an important part of it. Recently, a remark by the CEO of Foxtel during the show’s premiere drew a lot of negative comments, as he called Emilia Clarke a chunky looking daughter.

At the Sydney premiere of House of the Dragon, Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany remarked to the media and audience that when he first started watching GoT, his reaction was:

“I was like, ‘What’s that show with the chunky-looking girl walking through the flames?'”

While he expected it to be sarcastic on his part, the reactions received showed a complete contradiction. The masses did not receive it well as they felt offended by it. Later, Foxtel finally released an official statement explaining that Patrick Delany meant something else:

“On behalf of Mr. Delany, Foxtel Group apologizes if his remarks were misunderstood and caused any offence.”

The spokesperson added that Delany’s comments were in no way meant to offend Emilia Clarke:

Dragon House while it doesn’t have Daenerys Targaryen as it’s a prequel, it’s still reported to give an important story arc to the character and her intentions in the main series. Its pilot episode released three years after the GoT series finale is reported to have crashed the streaming site and now there is hope that if the remaining episodes go well, the saga can live again.
