Dragon House was the most-watched premiere of 2022 and for HBO of all time.
The Game of thorns the franchise is back after the controversial conclusion of the original series, with Dragon House already an impressive start for HBO. The series debuted on Sunday and drew 9.99 million viewers on HBO and HBO Max.
A massive return to Westeros
The 9.99 million views make Dragon House the premiere of the most-watched series for HBO. Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer of HBO and HBO Max, had the following to say about this first record:

According Samba-TV, Dragon House was also the most-watched premium streaming or cable premiere of 2022. 2.6 million households tuned in to the game of thrones prequel for the first six hours it was available.

Based on the book Fire & Blood by George RR Martin, the series will tell the story of House Targaryen (aka the House that gave us the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen) and will be set 300 years before the events of Game Of Thrones.
Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan J. Condal are co-showrunners of House of the Dragon and are executive producers alongside George RR Martin. The series features a star-studded cast that includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Paddy Considine, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best and Sonoya Mizuno.
