Maverick’s Glen Powell Reveals Truth Behind MCU Cyclops Rumors

Top Gun: Maverick‘s Glen Powell recently responded to rumors that he is set to appear as Cyclops in Marvel’s reboot of the x-men film franchise.

Glen Powell plays Hangman in highly anticipated Superior gun sequel that hit theaters earlier this year. With the X-Men movie rights now back at Marvel Studios, a new x-men the movie is said to be in the works, and Powell’s name has been mentioned in connection with the team’s leader, Cyclops.

In a recent interview for Top Gun: MaverickPowell was asked about the Cyclops rumors and he was able to shed some light on the situation.

Talk to Variety about Top Gun: MaverickGlenn Powell has offered a definitive answer on the veracity of the Cyclops rumors.

When asked if he would play Cyclops in Marvel’s x-men reboot, Powell strongly denied the rumors. The actor revealed that there has been no communication between him and Marvel Studios and he’s not sure how the rumor originated.

Powell said of the Cyclops speculation:

“Before Comic-Con, everyone was like, ‘Dude, are you Cyclops?’ No, I’m not. No one called me. I don’t even have a single contact info for Marvel, so I have no idea what people are talking about.

As of now, there has been no official word from Marvel on when an MCU x-men reboot might happen. With nothing confirmed yet, it’s possible the casting process for Marvel’s merry band of mutants hasn’t even begun yet. Either way, it seems there was no truth to the speculation about Glenn Powell preparing to play Scott Summers.
