After an 11-day trial in Los Angeles on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, the federal jury returned a verdict. By violating the privacy of the victim’s family and creating emotional pain, they conclude that LA County mishandled the footage.
Bryant and his daughter Gigi died in a horrific helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. They were traveling in an S-76B helicopter when it crashed after descending at 2,000 feet per minute. Seven innocent people also perished atop a Californian mountain.
Investigators have reviewed the circumstances of the crash, including the pilot’s background, the weather and the helicopter’s safety features, a year after the horrific tragedy. Bryant’s wife accused LA County of mishandling crash footage as the trial hearing using the footage began Aug. 10, 2022.
