In a world full of super-powered individuals, sometimes even non-hero characters can steal the show and our hearts. Here are 8 of the best non-hero characters who brought a lot to the MCU even with their limited screen time.
1. Ned Leeds
Spider-Man’s best friend and most trusted confidant is none other than Ned Leeds. His character is adorable, sweet and very funny. He and Peter have a special bond where they depend on each other and tell each other everything. In the MCU, Ned has helped Peter on many occasions, either with hacking or just as a diversion.
2. Erik Selvig
We saw him first during Thor and then again during The Avengers. He is an extremely intelligent man and an astrophysicist. He also played a pivotal role in the plot of MCU’s Avengers as he was brainwashed by Loki and his scepter which contained the Mind Stone. We next saw a crazed, delusional Selvig in Thor 2 after he somehow lost his mind to Loki.
3. Darcy Lewis
Here is another Thor character. She brings a humorous tone to the films she is a part of with her impeccable comedic timing. She is also extremely smart and smart enough to take care of herself. In MCU’s WandaVision, she completed her doctorate in astrophysics. She was also the only one smart enough to pick up radio signals and retrieve live footage from the Hex. Finally, she played a very important role in the rescue of the inhabitants of the Hex by helping Monica Rambeau.
4. Pepper shakers
She is best known as the lover and wife of Iron Man. However, she is much more than that. Pepper is a strong, confident and courageous woman. Even when she was Tony’s assistant, she was the only one who could keep him informed. She quickly became a fan favorite because of her witty one-liners and hilarious jabs. She also joins the rest of the heroes in the final fight of Avengers: Endgame where she fought without any fear. In the MCU’s Iron Man 3, she defeated Aldrich Killian. She was also instrumental in the construction and planning of Stark Tower.
5. Happy Hogan
This is another character that looms large in Tony Stark’s life. He was Tony’s bodyguard and one of his closest friends. Starting out as a comic relief, he eventually grew into a sweet, caring, and fun character. He supported Peter Parker after Tony Stark’s death and helped him through it all, including Mysterio. After Aunt May’s death in MCU’s No Way Home, and Peter’s treacherous stance, fans can’t wait to see how Happy fits into it all in the upcoming Spider-Man trilogy.
6. Jimmy Woo
His character was featured during Ant-Man and the Wasp and was later seen in WandaVision. Randall Park brought his signature charm and humor to this character and made us fall in love with Jimmy Woo. In the MCU, he was an FBI agent tasked with keeping tabs on Ant-Man during his house arrest. The fact that he wants to learn close-up magic after seeing some of Scott Lang’s tricks is absolutely hilarious. Woo brought the same adorable and fun nature to WandaVision’s sets.
7. Security Consultants Luis and X-Con
He is Scott Lang’s best friend and closest ally. In the MCU, he and his friends Dave and Kurt also brought to light a real societal problem in which many ex-convicts struggle in the real world despite having turned over a new leaf. Luis does it with his charming and hilarious personality. He helped Scott hide the Ant-Man suit and even worked from Scott’s house in order to keep him involved. He’s probably best known for his elaborate and lengthy explanations and fans love him for it.
8. Katy Chen
Akwafina as Katy Chen absolutely nailed it. She was relatable, hilarious, and adorable in MCU Shang Chi. While she seemed quite cold and reckless as she stole car keys while serving as a valet, later in the film she became an extremely important character. In Ta Lo, she learned archery so she could help in the final battle. In fact, she was instrumental in winning the battle by shooting an arrow with pinpoint accuracy that went to expose the Dweller’s neck.
