James Gunn reflected on filming the final scene with all the main actors in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
For nearly a decade, James Gunn has been attached to the MCU’s lovable cosmic misfits known as the Guardians of the Galaxy. The once-obscure team has since become a household name, thanks to two hit standalone movies, as well as multiple appearances in other MCU properties, including two. avengers movies and more recently, Thor: Love and Thunder.
After a tumultuous journey, James Gunn jumped from the DC Extended Universe and returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to fulfill his vision for the conclusion of the guardians of the galaxy trilogy. Gunn admitted to having a pretty close connection to both the cast of the films, as well as the characters themselves, which is a big inspiration for his writing process, and when asked how this reflected his creative process, he tweeted the following:
James Gunn’s comments here reflect the ongoing narrative that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the most moving film of the entire trilogy so far. As someone who attended San Diego Comic-Con for the Hall H Marvel Studios presentation, I got to see the first teaser for the movie, and if it’s the ongoing narrative for the team, or especially how the film teases his exploration into Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and his origins, the film seems to touch viewers’ hearts quite a bit. And knowing that Gunn and the Guardians team were extremely emotional filming the final scene together is pretty interesting to hear.
Before they come back for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn’s lovable misfits recently appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder. Here is the synopsis:
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on an unprecedented journey – a quest for inner peace. But his retreat is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magic hammer, Mjolnir, as Mighty. Thor. Together they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s revenge and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the solo Thor film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan , Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
