She-Hulk: Lawyer star Mark Ruffalo discussed the impact the series could have on Dead Pool 3.
She-Hulk: Lawyer features Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) breaking the fourth wall. Naturally, Marvel fans often associate this ability with Merc with a Mouth, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds). And with Dead Pool 3 on the horizon for the MCU, some are curious to see how this new series might tease what’s to come for Ryan Reynolds’ beloved character. Well, Mark Ruffalo talked about how that could set the stage for this movie.
Mark Ruffalo spoke with IGN to promote She-Hulk: lawyer, and discussed how Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy could take inspiration from breaking the fourth wall of Jennifer Walters, and how that could impact the way Wade Wilson does it in Deadpool 3:
“I mean, look, you know…Ryan [Reynolds] could take that anywhere…and I hope he does. The one thing about Marvel is that they pretty much let the filmmakers make whatever movie they want to make. I mean sometimes it doesn’t work, but every experience I’ve had is like that. I mean, what we did with Thor: Ragnarok… they basically threw out Thor and totally reinvented it. And the Hulk…by the way. I am therefore convinced that between [director Shawn Levy] and Ryan, they’re going to do something that’s going to be very satisfying for the people of Deadpool and… I feel like She-Hulk… sort of goes, ‘Hey, we’re pretty open, and we’re pretty free and , we are interested enough to really go where people are willing and willing to go.
The first two dead Pool the films were set in the previously established X-Men universe of 20th century studios. Now that Marvel Studios has the rights to the Mutants and the Fantastic Four, they will be implemented into the MCU canon. With how She-Hulk: Lawyer uses fourth wall humor, it will be interesting to see how Dead Pool 3 uses it in the context of the MCU.
