Alliance Demon and Corlys
Hate and revenge consume even the noblest minds. Even though Lord Corlys serves King Viserys as Master of the Ships, he still seeks revenge for the failed attempt to establish a ceremonial relationship with the Targaryen family.
Lord Corlys wanted to marry his daughter to King Viserys, but that didn’t happen because King chose Alicent Hightower for the wedding rather than Corlys’ daughter. He left the courtroom in despair and anger.
Earlier, he showed his anger that King didn’t act on the crab feeders that killed his sailors and destroyed his fleets. So the best idea for him was probably to find someone who has unparalleled thoughts with King Viserys, just like him.
And he went to chat with Daemon Targaryen.
The Alliance
Daemon may not be on the same page as King Viserys, but he hasn’t lost his temper yet. There’s no vengeance in his eyes, but he’s desperate to sit on the Iron Throne. And to compound that desperation, Lord Corlys offered her the chance to redeem herself with people who still doubt her potential.
He asks Daemon to fight alongside him and defeat the Crab Eaters. Corlys convinced Daemon to shed blood on a free land, which the king bluntly denied. Corlys is well aware that King would be furious with him and Daemon for this unspeakable action. But still, his anger towards the king forced him to break the rules set by him.
If this alliance grows stronger in the future, they may challenge the throne at some point after Aegon is born. Aegon Targaryen will be the eldest son of King Viserys and Alicent Hightower. Probably, it will be a difficult time between Aegon and Rhaenyra for the throne. But Daemon isn’t just going to let these siblings fight to easily win the throne, which he thinks is his.
The desperation Daemon has for the throne is sure to turn into anger and frustration. And that will be the day when Corlys’ alliance with Daemon sparks larger plans to reclaim the throne.
