madmax director George Miller has revealed he’s written another prequel film that focuses on the titular character.
In 2015, the madmax the franchise came back strong in theaters with Mad Max: Fury Road. The film was a financial success and a big hit with critics, holding a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It would go on to be nominated for 10 Oscars and won 6. Unfortunately, various studio policies prevented a follow-up from being made until relatively recently.
It turned out that the movie director George Miller wanted to make was a madmax prequel which focused on the origins of road of fury co-lead, Furiosa. Production on the film began this summer, but there’s still a long way to go before it’s finished. This movie, however, isn’t the only prequel Miller wants to do.
Another prequel?
In a recent interview with The AV Club, Geroge Miller revealed that he wrote another prequel set in the madmax universe. This second prequel would focus on Max Rockatansky about a year before the events of road of fury:
“We also wrote, not a script, but almost in novel form, Nico Lathouris and I, what happened to Max the year before, and that’s something we’ll get to later on. telling the story of Furiosa, everything had to be explained in Fury Road In my mind I have a back story of the Doof Warrior, who plays guitar How a blind man who all he knows how to do is play guitar, how can he survive in a desert where everyone is in extremis? How did he get there? So we wrote little stories for each character when we created Fury Road.
Here is the synopsis of the next film of the madmax franchise, Furiosa:
As the world crumbles, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a large horde of bikers led by the warlord Dementus. Scanning the Wasteland, they encounter the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants battle for dominance, Furiosa must survive many hardships as she puts in place the means to find her way home.
