Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II calls his Black Manta clown role a clown job compared to other parts.
In 2018, Abdul-Mateen II debuted as Black Manta in Aquaman. Following this appearance, the actor’s career exploded and continued to act in other projects like watchmen, Chicago 7 Testand candy man. The actor is currently set to reprise the role of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom but apparently does not hold the role in high regard.
Some roles are more valuable to some than to others
Speaking to Vulture, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II opened up about his role as Black Manta in the Aquaman movies. In the interview, he compared the role to the job of a clown saying it wasn’t like his job in Chicago 7 Test:
“Everything should be aimed at finding out the truth. But sometimes you need to know what movie or genre you’re into. Something like “Aquaman” is clown work. “Aquaman” is not “The Trial of the Chicago 7”. You have to surpass yourself. »
