The Little Mermaid is Halle Bailey’s life-changing experience
When it was first announced that Halle Bailey would be directing the role of Ariel, she faced several racist reactions. The complaints were mostly centered on her skin color. But she proved her haters wrong as the audience loved her very much as Ariel.
Speaking to the press at Expo D23, Halle Bailey confessed that it was indeed a life-changing experience. According to her, her filmmaking journey mirrored Ariel’s journey to find herself and her voice:
“I would definitely say going into this movie, I was a lot more, I think, just young at heart and a little more insecure,” she says. “The whole experience of filming, in more ways than one, reflected Ariel’s journey to find herself and her voice.”
The actress also revealed that at the end of filming, she cried with joy. She felt that this film was a life-changing experience:
“I remember at the end of filming, on closing day, I was sobbing because I really felt like I had come out of that cocoon with Ariel,” Bailey said. “This story has done so much for me and the filming process has truly changed my life.”
Recently, the actress also expressed her interest in playing the role of a mutant in MCU.
