‘Not true to source material’: Charlie Cox confirms Daredevil: Born Again won’t have slapstick comedy like She-Hulk, will be serious and gritty like Netflix version

by Drew Goddard daredevilbased on the Marvel character of the same name, was a definite contender for TV Series of the Year when it aired in 2015. Charlie Cox’s gripping performance as a blind lawyer with keen senses was a treat to watch because the actor summed up the essence of the character perfectly.

But the question is whether he’ll be able to replicate the serious character of the 2015 series with his next reboot. The question only arises because adding Matt Murdock to the list of characters to appear in She-Hulk: Lawyer has a relatively lighter and more comedic tone.

“There was a little experiment, but it was really nice and I really had a good time. The chemistry I had with Tatiana was amazing, so if they lighten the tone a bit, I’m not afraid of that.

Malkin slipped a little joke saying “slapstick Daredevil!” ”, To which Cox immediately reacted-

“I don’t think it’s faithful enough to the source material for it to really work, but there’s a lot of Daredevil comics, a lot of tracks, where there’s levity, there’s levity, there’s is fun, and I think with eighteen episodes you have time to do a bit of both.

Charlie Cox will officially return as the Man Without Fear in Daredevil: born again, and he says in his last interview with Extra TV that it will be a “fresh start”-

“I haven’t seen a script… My feeling is, based on the title ‘Born Again’, I think the meaning is that it’s a new beginning, it’s going to be different, it’s going to be totally different. It will be new stories and new ideas.

“It’s a season 1, it’s not a season 4, so it’s a whole new thing. Which I think is the way to go. If you have to do it again, do it differently.

The end of the story of the Netflix series will bring joy to some, and disappointment to others. But as Daredevil fans, we should be grateful to have at least one new series, which hopefully won’t be canceled in the future.

Daredevil: Born Again will be part of the MCU’s Phase Five and is set to release on Disney+ in early 2024.
