The Leader Returns to the MCU

This year’s D23 Expo yielded a whole lot of Marvel content. With surprising cameos in his future movies and stunning trailers for upcoming movies and TV shows.

We got a look at the cast of Captain America New World Order. Along with Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, we have Carl Lumbly returning Isaiah Bradley and Danny Ramirez returning as the new Falcon.

The biggest surprise of all is the return of Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns aka The Leader. Yes, you read that right, we’re officially getting The Leader in the MCU.

Who is the chief ?

The leader

In the comics, Samuel Sterns is a janitor who works at a chemical plant. After an accident in the lab, he is exposed to dangerous chemicals that cause him to go through gamma radiation.

After waking up, he finds himself in a different form. His skin turned green and his brain was much bigger than before. But this accident gives him an intelligence unlike anyone else in the world.

He uses this intelligence to try to take over the world but is continually interfered with by the Hulk. The leader in turn becomes the sworn enemy of the Hulk.

The MCU version of the leader

The MCU version of Samuel Sterns, who appeared in The Incredible Hulk, was already a scientist. He helps extract gamma radiation from Bruce and also gives his power to Abomination.

At the end, he encounters an accident and we could see his brain develop. This was the last time he was seen in the MCU, that too over a decade ago. Fans speculated that Kevin Feige forgot about the character

How will he tie the MCU to the Incredible Hulk?

Hulk, the leader, Captain America

2008’s The Incredible Hulk, after Mark Ruffalo was cast as the Hulk, was not considered canon for the MCU. The return of General Ross said the opposite.

Following Emil Blonsky’s Return in She-Hulk Attorney At Law, Fans Speculated

the return of The Leader to the series. There’s still a good chance we’ll get our first look at The Leader in She-Hulk Attorney At Law.

His appearance in the She-Hulk series will make a lot of sense and also tie the three together, heading into Captain America’s New World Order.

With his return in Captain America 4, we might also get a future Hulk vs. The Leader movie or TV show. With Hulk finally facing his comic nemesis in the MCU, we might also get a chance to meet Skaar, the Hulk’s son.

Apart from him, we also have a new character coming to the MCU, Sabra, who has superhuman human powers and in the comics is a mutant. It will also make room for mutants in the MCU.
