The Leader is the main villain of Captain America: New World Order.
During the events of San Diego Comic-Con, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson has been confirmed to return to the MCU. Kevin Feige has announced his involvement in Captain America: New World Order. The movie is slated for release in 2024. It will be the penultimate movie in MCU’s Phase 5. Since then, news regarding the film has been scarce. The latest news fans received was that Julius Onah was set to take over directing Captain America: New World Order. It would be a transfer of responsibility from Joe and Anthony Russo. Of course, as seen in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson overcame his apprehensions. He took on the responsibility of becoming the new Captain America. Further details regarding the rest of the cast and the storyline have been kept under wraps. However, the main villain has now been announced to be The Leader.
Captain America 4 main villain confirmed
The last villain Sam Wilson fought with Bucky Barnes was the Flag Smashers. However, the new villain has now been revealed. This was confirmed by none other than Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. During Marvel Studios’ panel at D23 Fan Expo 2022, it was announced that The Leader, played by Tim Blake Nelson, would be the main villain. The leader hasn’t been seen in the franchise since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. This will be the actor’s second appearance in the MCU. He attended the event and even expressed his gratitude. “I’m thrilled, Marvel is a part of cinematic history, and for me to be a part of it is an absolute honor.”
The cast will also include Carl Lumbley (Isaiah Bradley) and Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres). They too appeared in the event. Julius Onah also had a lot to say about The Leader. “Let’s just say that one of the things that really appealed to me about this project is that the leader is a man who operates from the intellect. And it’s so great to have an adversary who works with this incredible intellect to really put Sam to the test in this story. And, again, it’s a paranoid thriller, it’s this grounded adventure where I think everything that happens in this movie feels so real and intense because of who this adversary is. So going back to your other question, what he’s going to have to go through in this movie is because he has an adversary who is so awfully smart.
Tim Blake Nelson’s Previous Role in the MCU
He had played a small but important role in The Incredible Hulk. He portrayed Dr. Samuel Sterns who was integral to Emil Blonsky’s transformation into the Abomination. The scene had ended with a few drops of Bruce Banner’s blood falling into Dr. Sterns’ open wound on his head. He immediately smiled and formulated his plans for the future. However, since he hasn’t appeared in the MCU. Rest assured he will be a formidable villain for Sam Wilson’s Captain America. It will also explore what Sterns has been doing for over a decade.
