Nyck de Vries: who is he? F1 star grew up in the Netherlands with a loving sister and family
Nyck de Vries has been in the running for some time. He is a well-known Dutch racing driver who now drives for Williams Racing in Formula 1. De Vries makes his racing debut at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix as a backup driver for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team.
In March 2018, he joined Racing Team Nederland to compete in the LMP2 category. He and his team made history on October 6, 2019 by winning the 6 Hours of Fuji. He drove the vehicle home and drove the final stage.
On July 6, 2020, he was unveiled as a test and relief driver for Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe GmbH. It performs tests on the TS050 hybrid and Toyota’s hypercar.
He was known and popular during his career. He won the 2010-2011 World Karting Championships, the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2019 and the Formula E World Championship in 2020-2021. A racer participated in the McLaren Young Driver Program from January 2010 to May 2019 and the Audi Sport Racing Academy from October 2016 to August 2019.

In 2009, he retained his WSK World Series and German Junior titles while winning the European KF3 Championship. In September 2010, he won the 2010 World Karting Championship. 2012
In 2012, De Vries switched to single-seaters and obtained a place in the R-ace GP Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. 2013
The following year, De Vries moved to Koiranen GP for his second league campaign. He won one race each at the Hungaroring and Circuit de Catalunya, finishing the season in fifth place overall.
2014
In 2014, De Vries took part in the Eurocup for a record third time while continuing to play for Koiranen. He finished on the podium in 11 of the 14 races, winning six of them. With 254 points to 124, he handily beat Dennis Olsen, who finished second in the championship. In addition, he participated in the entire Alpine Formula Renault season. He won 10 of 14 races, finishing outside the top three only twice.

In 2015, De Vries participated for DAMS in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. He finished third in the final standings with 160 points before winning the season-ending race at Circuito de Jerez, just behind Oliver Rowland and Matthieu Vaxivière. He had already won five podiums.
GP-series
De Vries competed in the GP3 series in 2016 for the ART Grand Prix. He earned his first podium finish at the Red Bull Ring by finishing third, then he took his first pole position in Budapest. At Monza, his first victory did not come until the second race; he replicated the feat at the Yas Marina Circuit at the end of the season. He finished sixth, behind champions and runners-up Charles Leclerc and Alexander Albon, who were his teammates.
Formula 2 World Championship
2017
De Vries joined Rapax in the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2017 after changing teams. He took his first victory in the sprint race in Monte Carlo, and before the summer break he took three more podiums. Prior to the Spa-Francorchamps race, where he took second place, De Vries switched to Racing Engineering. He placed seventh overall and second among championship rookies at the end of the season.
2018

For the 2018 season, De Vries moved on to working with Sean Gelael at Prema Racing.
His season got off to a slow start, putting him well behind his title rivals with just two podiums in the first three races. De Vries’ first victory of the season in the sprint race at Le Castellet was followed by a pointless round in Austria and two fourth places at Silverstone. The Dutch rider however improved afterwards, winning the main competitions in Hungary and Belgium respectively. After securing his sixth podium of the year in the Sochi cross-country race, De Vries was edged out in the standings by Alex Albon and Lando Norris by 10 and 17 points respectively.
2019
At the 2019 Spielberg Formula 2 round, De Vries is an ART Grand Prix competitor.
De Vries is still in Formula 2 in 2019 and joined Nikita Mazepin at his former team, ART Grand Prix, who were GP3 runners-up in 2018. His season got off to a good start with a sprint win in Barcelona and a podium finish in Baku. Starting on the front line in Monaco, he won the championship by winning the important race at Le Castellet. A few third places at the Red Bull Ring, a podium at Silverstone and Budapest, and two more third places at Monza solidified De Vries’ lead, and he finally had the trophy in his possession. After his fourth and final victory – in the penultimate race in Sochi – De Vries was crowned the mathematical winner of the season.
The FIA World Endurance Championship
On March 15, 2018, De Vries signed a contract with Racing Team Nederland to race in the LMP2 category. He and this team took their first victory in this category at the 6 Hours of Fuji on October 6, 2019. De Vries brought the car home and drove the final stage.
On July 6, 2020, De Vries was announced as Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe GmbH’s test and relief driver. It tests the TS050 hybrid as well as Toyota’s hypercar.
Philippe Cimadomo, driver for TDS Racing x Vaillante, was banned from starting during the test week preceding the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans by ACO officials. Due to his reserve role with the Toyota Hypercar team, he was already on track when he was asked to step in. Due to Philippe Cimadomo’s bronze ranking and De Vries’ platinum ranking, the car went from Pro/Am to Pro.
