Debuting as Captain Marvel in the 2016 Marvel film of the same name, Brie Larson started a lot of fires, both of hate and love for her character and for herself. Since, or rather even before the film’s release, she received a brutal amount of backlash that the actor initially chose to ignore, however, it soon caught up with her and became unavoidable not to deal with it.
Academy Award-winning Brie Larson has been the target of toxicity from Twitter and other social media platforms for some time. Both the character and the actress faced somewhat sexist public disapproval.

Brie Larson subtly addresses hate
During Expo D23, Variety interviewed on Bedroom actress and asked her what she expected from Carol Danvers’ future. Larson’s response sounded less motivating than expected.
“I don’t know, I don’t know – does anyone want me to do it again?” she pointed out. “I don’t know, I really don’t know. I don’t have the answer to that.
Initially state how she chooses to stay away from any comments on the internet about her, herself, who she is or how she is. It seems to have been inevitable as Brie Larson took note of how audiences reacted to her character. There is no doubt that most of the reviews have been negative.

However, long before the film was released, a river of sexist comments had begun to flow on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics had chosen to analyze the character in a much more sexist and different way than originally intended.
Being the seventh highest-grossing Marvel movie doesn’t seem to work in its favor either. She has constantly been criticized for the same and doesn’t think audiences want to see her play the character anymore.

Public View Dominates Captain Marvel’s Influence
Audiences had expected the long-awaited character to make his MCU debut, as well as being part of two of the highest-grossing films of all time; Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. And Captain Marvel, although not on par with the other two films, it still held its own.
After the film’s release, a series of negative reviews and comments circulated the Internet, followed by only a fragment of comments supporting his role. Comments ranged from wanting her removed to criticizing her acting. The more positive, however, encouraged her to support her and the film.

Following Brie Larson’s statement at D23 Expo, fans once again chose to dive into the poles of commentary, both in favor and against her. Many of them want her to remain the cosmic hero while others want to see a different take on the character, with some even commenting on the removal of the character himself.

The importance of Captain Marvel in the MCU
Carol Danvers is an integral member of the Avengers; not just in the comics, but even in the movies and shows, she proves it. Since its intro movie, Captain Marvel has appeared in numerous MCU projects, setting up its own sequel movie in the process.
After his sensational entry into the Avengers: Endgame culmination, Larson’s character found himself in several cameos with other MCU projects. Starting with a cameo mention in the final episode of Wandavision, followed by the post-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and his recent appearance on the post-credits stage of Mrs. Marvel. The Mrs. marvel’s the post-credit scene finally gave us all three leads for Wonders, the sequel to her movie starring Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau.

Captain Marvel would also be seen in the next 2025 film Avengers: Secret Wars. Carol Danvers plays a huge role in the MCU with every character she connects with and it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see less of Larson playing the character.
