Rising high with the release of its first 4 episodes, many believe Dragon House lived up to the legacy of game of thrones. It follows the political conflict of House Targaryen, approximately 200 years before the events of the original show.

It stars Paddy Considine as Kind King Viserys Targaryen and Milly Alcock as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Throughout the season, numerous references to the events of game of thrones were made, much to the disdain of fans who found seasons 7 and 8 unbearable.
Aegon’s Dream of the Dragon House and Azor Ahai’s Prophecy
One reference that caught many fans’ attention was a conversation between Viserys and Rhaenyra, where he revealed the secret of Aegon the Conqueror’s dream. This dream was only passed down to the Targaryen Kings and their heirs, giving the secret great value.

The vision foresaw the threat of the White Walkers and the only way to stop it was for a Targaryen king or queen to sit on the Iron Throne and unite the kingdom to defeat the undead. This vision is similar to Azor Ahai’s prophecy of game of thrones.

In addition, Viserys also deciphered the inscriptions of the Valyrian steel dagger of the Targaryens, which was used in Game of Thrones to kill the Night King, to show Rhaenyra Aegon’s dream inscribed, he said:
“Out of my blood came the promised prince, and his will shall be the song of ice and fire.”
Does this mean Jon or Danny was the prophetic hero?
Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen fulfilled many terms of the Azor Ahai prophecy preached by Melisandre in game of thrones. They also united most of the kingdom as leaders to fight against the White Walkers.

Despite some similarities, the prophecy and Aegon’s dream become muddled upon closer inspection as neither sits on the Iron Throne and it was Arya Stark who killed the Night King. Although the Targaryens are known to misunderstand these dreams, game of thrones maybe still right.
