The private life of Sig Hansen
Nina and Mandy, two children that Hansen and his wife June were able to adopt, now live with them in Seattle. From a previous marriage, Hansen has a biological daughter named Melissa. Mandy, his eldest, joined him aboard the Northwestern as acting captain. Jackson, Hansen’s grandson, and Sailor Marie, his granddaughter, are both from his marriage to Nina. Sailor Marie, her granddaughter from her union with Mandy, is also her descendant. Mandy speaks Norwegian fluently, as do her brothers. Sig Hansen’s Norwegian parents spoke it at home, so she learned the language before learning English.
