Black Panther Star Winston Duke reveals M’Baku’s new role in Wakanda after surviving snap in Avengers: Infinity War.
One of the greatest show stealers of Black Panther was Winston Duke’s M’Baku. The leader of the Jabari tribe, the character, and his people lived in isolation from the rest of Wakanda. Eventually, he aids T’Challa in his battles against Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger and fights alongside him and with the Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War.
Despite last-minute heroic actions from characters like Scarlet Witch and Thor, Thanos ultimately succeeded in his plan to wipe out half of life in the universe. Winston Duke’s M’Baku is among those spared. Speaking to Comicbook.com, Duke talked about the character, what he’s been up to in those five years, and the need to catch up:
“I think M’Baku has to catch up. His role has changed. He survived The Snap, he’s now part of the Tribal Council, so he’s more forward-looking and less insular. So he was forced to really be part of the collective transparency. I think that’s a really cool thing for him and you can see a whole new dynamic, including him.
