Before the season was suspended by COVID-19 in 2020 against New Mexico, Hall hit a grand slam. He quickly rose through the ranks during his rookie season in 2018.

As a freshman, he passed Joe Critchlow to move into the third quarter behind Zach Wilson and Tanner Mangum.

In 2019, with Zach Wilson sidelined after shoulder surgery, Hall played most first-team reps at quarterback during spring training.

He had interest from a few Power Five institutions, but only BYU and Utah reportedly offered the three-star prospect. Hall joined the recruiting class of 2016 and signed on to work for Bronco Mendenhall staff.
