Good night mom is the latest film to arrive in the growing library of Originals on Prime Video. Now, when you think of “blonde, Aussie actress,” I’m sure the first name that comes to mind is Nicole Kidman (especially after her residency at AMC). Personally, one name that should come to mind is Naomi Watts, who happens to be Kidman’s best friend in real life. Naomi Watts is a very underrated actress; she did everything, from playing in Peter Jackson King Kong play the late Princess Diana. However, its role in Good night mom is very different from what I’ve seen her in, and she’s definitely the star of this movie.
Good evening Mom Reviews

The interesting thing about this movie is that it is a remake of an Austrian movie of the same name from 2014. The movie was a big hit, so naturally an American remake had to happen. The premise remains essentially the same: two twins are left with their mother by their father. When they arrive, they find that their mother has had some kind of surgery where her face is completely covered in bandages. As the boys continue to spend time with her, they begin to suspect that she may not be their mother.

Naomi Watts is the main reason to watch this movie. Her performance as a mother is unlike anything I’ve seen her do before; she does a great job switching between cute and creepy as the boys continue to investigate her. Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti do a great job as Elias and Lucas, with Cameron (Ryan from The boys) being more remarkable. Peter Hermann is always reliable in everything he does, so he doesn’t disappoint in the very little screen time he has.

All in all, if you’re looking for something a bit spooky with good performance, I recommend giving Good night mom a chance. I didn’t like it at all, but it wasn’t the worst movie of all time. The script is all over the place at times, so it doesn’t flow as well as a good horror/thriller movie should. Hopefully there will be more talk about Naomi Watts after she releases tomorrow on Prime Video; she deserves to be better known than I think.
