squid game was THE sensational series of 2021. With an intriguing plot, elements of a K-drama, and the lives of our favorite characters at stake, many people, including actors, have become fans of the series. One of those actors was none other than Leonardo DiCaprio.
It was revealed that series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk might have had the Titanic actor for a cameo in the show’s second season, but the plan didn’t pan out as a result.

Leonardo DiCaprio may cameo in squid game Season 3
Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk recently appeared at a press conference in Seoul for the celebration of squid game six Emmys! The 51-year-old then revealed some information about what people could expect squid game season 2.

Speaking of the second season’s setting, the series will be based in a dystopian Seoul only with lead actor Lee Jung-jae returning for his iconic role as Seong Gi-hun (contestant #456). Most of the familiar characters were dead by the end of Season 1 with another piece of creator news…no Hollywood celebrities.
“There won’t be any well-known Hollywood actors in season 2. It’s not planned and if the scene changes, maybe in season 3 – but for season 2, it’s still set in Korea. Leonardo DiCaprio said he’s a big fan of “Squid Game”, so maybe if time or the odds allow it, we can ask him to join the games.
Since the setting is set only in the back streets of Korea, there won’t be a cameo by a Hollywood celebrity even if they’re a fan of the show. They might come across as the oligarchs the game is designed for, but we’ll leave it up to Hwang Dong-hyuk to decide for the best.

squid game, being the sensational series, won a total of six Emmys to add to the praise and applause the series had received. Lee Jung-jae even found himself holding the Emmy for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series” by beating Bob Odenkirk and many others. The series also received the Emmy for “Outstanding Drama Series”.
It would indeed be fun to see Leonardo DiCaprio star in the series with many other actors. The second season is currently in development and won’t be seen until the year 2024, however, Hwang Dong-hyuk’s statements about a cameo in season 3 have made people wonder about the abrupt ending to which season 2 could face and how they will get a lot more squid game in the future.
