Light year is available digitally and on Blu-Ray and DVD. On this occasion, I had the chance to speak with one of the brains of Pixar, Peter Sohn.
Peter Sohn directed and wrote The Good Dinosaur (which never once failed to make me cry) and Pixar’s next animated feature Elementary. He also voiced Ciccio in LucasEmile in Ratatouille, squishy in monster universityand this year, Peter Sohn brought Sox, Buzz’s loyal cat, to life in Light year.
Interview with Peter Sohn
Fresh off of D23 where he shared the first look at Pixar Elementary (released in June 2023 and already absolutely gorgeous), Peter Sohn told me about his love for Disney cartoons Dumbo and Peter Panwho are always a big inspiration to him, and he shared his idea of the perfect Pixar movie night:
“I want the tissues, but I want my family. So I want the sofa, like the best way is the family on the sofa. Tight tight, some snacks, (…) and then, if someone is laughing, I can be close enough to love, laugh with them or eat snacks with them. It’s the best way to do it.
And, of course, Peter Sohn expressed his love for the Sox and thanked his fans, who immediately embraced Buzz’s adorable sidekick:
“It made me want to become a real cat. I didn’t think being a cat would get so much love. My heart melted with the love people showed this character, you know I was really proud of that. So thanks.”
