References to Marvel superheroes
She-Hulk Episode 5 is out and once again we saw a full Titania fight episode. But, we got something to cherish in this episode and it’s by Luke – The Superhero Costume Designer.
Jennifer’s co-worker and friend Nikki took her to Luke, who is renowned for designing superhero costumes. When Jennifer first contacted Luke, he asked her what kind of superhero stuff she was doing.
In his quest to confirm the facts about She-Hulk, he asks if she needs a combat suit, a fire-resistant suit, or a water-resistant suit. Well, those options rang a few bells for us fans.
Deadpool, Hydro-Man and Human Torch
The battlesuits directly allude to Deadpool and Daredevil. Next, the water-resistant suit is for a Marvel hero not yet introduced in any movies or series, who is called Hydro-Man. And finally, the fire-resistant suit alludes us directly to the Human Torch from Fantastic 4.
Now, these references may not seem too specific. But think about why Luke had these ideas in the first place. He may have met these heroes and made costumes for them to maintain their superhero identity.
We know we’re all going to see Daredevil in later episodes of this series. It’s because we’ve pretty much cherished his scenes in the trailer for so long now.
Even though She-Hulk hasn’t caught our attention at all for five episodes now, these references are something that convinces us to continue with the other episodes of this series.
How is the Human Torch and Hydro-Man enter the scene?
We’re pretty much clear on the picture of how Luke is an underground superhero ally and must have helped crime fighters like Deadpool and Daredevil. But, he will be keen to know how it will relate to Fantastic 4 and upcoming Hydro Man movies or series.
If MCU’s Fantastic 4 is to be set on a completely different universe, this reference might not fit the context correctly. But, it’s possible that the MCU’s main Reed Richards timeline still won’t be in the limelight for the current phase. We’d love to see how Marvel would spin around this story.
For Hydro-Man, there are no other references in any of the movies or series so far. There is no other Marvel character with more famous aquatic powers than Hydro-Man. So, fingers crossed for that!
