The episode review
A campaign for mayor seems strangely out of place for this show, for some reason. It’s not as interesting as the power plays that came before it, despite the fact that the actors do an amazing job. On the other hand, it was a wonderful revelation when it turned out that the person sentenced to death had been the one who had accepted the blame for President Kang’s son.
Chang-ho’s determination to bring Choi Do-ha to justice seems somewhat misplaced. I thought NK Chemical was responsible for the death of Noh Park’s daughter. And didn’t Do-Grandpa have a problem with that? Doesn’t Do-ha take revenge on him? Have his goals changed in any way? If Chang-ho is still out for revenge on Big Mouse, it’s hard to see how Gong Ji-hoon isn’t to blame.
A number of details just don’t seem to add up. Also, Choi Do-ha isn’t as interesting to watch as the frosty Chairman Kang in his antagonist role. It was too early for them to get rid of him.
How Mi-ho is treated in the show is yet another contentious issue. They seem to adhere to a common practice in Korean dramas of turning female characters into damsels in distress near the end of the series. After all that Mi-ho has done, it doesn’t seem right that she should be reduced to the role of victim and her suffering used to further Chang-but. Oh
That said, the story has provided us with some very emotional scenes between the couple. The scene where Mi-ho delivers dinner to Chang-ho is endearing and warms the viewer’s heart. The walk on the beach is also endearing. Even a brief view of the previous version of Chang-ho is seen, which serves to emphasize how far he has evolved. We’re on the last episode now!
