The show follows thirty single people from the same big city, fifteen men and fifteen women, all looking for romantic partners. The men and women socialize in specially designed “pods” for a period of ten days during which they cannot see each other but can communicate with each other through the use of loudspeakers. They start with a similar setup to speed dating, but later have the option of having much longer dates. Whenever daters feel ready, they are free to propose to each other. The first time a couple sees each other in person is after one of them has already accepted the other’s marriage proposal. After that, the engaged couple head to a resort for a special couples retreat. They have the opportunity to be physically intimate for the first time on this trip, during which they also spend time getting to know their partners better. On top of that, they get to know the other couples who are taking part in the experience.
After the fiancés retire, they all decide to move into the same apartment complex together in the city where they currently reside. While in the apartments, they get to know their partners’ friends and relatives and gain additional insight into their partners’ lives by discussing topics such as their partners’ money, recreational activities, personal habits and the final main location. Besides that, they organize weddings at the end of the month. During this time of wedding planning, the women’s group shop together for wedding dresses, while the men’s group shop together for suits. They each bring a few friends and/or family members with them. They also decide things like the flavor and design of the cake that will be served at the reception. Each participant must determine for themselves whether or not to say “yes” at the altar.
Production
Shooting
Beginning October 9, 2018, filming took place in Atlanta, Georgia, and continued there for the next 38 days until the nuptials. On October 19, the couples had their first in-person meetings. Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville was the filming location for Ten Days in the Pods. The newly engaged couples left the pods and then the remaining couples retired to Grand Velas Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where filming took place. Couples whose relationships were strong enough to survive retirement in Mexico move and live together in an apartment complex. At the end of the retreat, the engaged couple returned to Atlanta and checked into the Spectrum on Spring building. This is where they continued filming until the weddings took place. On November 15, the weddings took place at two different event facilities in Atlanta, called Flourish Atlanta and The Estate.
For the show’s second season, the pods were transported from Georgia to a brand new studio in Santa Clarita, California, where production was taking place.

We had planned a group of five. Then we received eight pledges, which meant we had to choose who we were going to follow. We were able to get our phones back. They expressed their gratitude to us and then apologized, saying there just wasn’t enough for everyone.
After getting engaged in the pods, Baer and Skipper continued dating for a total of three months before calling off their engagement.
