Daredevil is always applauded for being an incredibly unique and dark take on the superhero genre. Especially after Disney’s lighthearted tone with its Marvel content, audiences were thrilled to watch Netflix’s Matt Murdock. Charlie Cox ran the show and in no time made the role his own. One No One Can Support, similar to Hugh Jackman’s Logan or Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. As the series now eagerly awaits a reboot in the MCU under the Disney+ umbrella, Charlie Cox reveals that never expected to return.

While Charlie Cox was already marking his MCU debut with Spider-Man: No Coming Home, he revealed that at some point he lost all hope. He couldn’t even believe Vincent D’Onofrio who always used to reassure him that they would be back soon.

Charlie Cox seemed pessimistic about his return
Shortly after Netflix canceled all Marvel shows under its banner, some fans were disappointed and doubted the characters’ future. But there was still an active hope that MCU would rehire the actors as they are the best fit for their respective roles. Unfortunately, Charlie Cox didn’t wear those glasses of optimism like us.

Charlie Cox confessed that even when Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio reassured him that he would get his role back, he called it delusional.
“It had been years. I last wore the suit in – I didn’t know it at the time – but it was 2017. And Kevin called me 2020. I was kidding earlier like all this time Vincent [D’Onofrio] and I was chatting and he was convinced that they were going to call us, and I was like, ‘Dude, you’re delusional. It’s finish. It’s long gone, like, we don’t play those characters anymore. He said, ‘They will call us.’ »
Vincent D’Onofrio’s portrayal of Kingpin has also had its fair share of the show’s popularity. Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin has already made his MCU debut with the Hawk Eye series and is expected to reprise the role in the upcoming Echo and daredevil series. It’s quite interesting how the two stars of the show had completely unmatched views on the future of their characters.

Daredevil is getting a makeover with the MCU
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is going to undergo a slight change in its character and the tone of the series. According to reports, Daredevil’s cameo in the ongoing series She-Hulk will present the character in an unreleased version.

Fans are doubting how this tonal shift will play out on Matt Murdock’s character. But the creators assured that his solo series Daredevil: Born Again will have its own serious, gritty moments. While the MCU’s version of Daredevil is heavily speculated in hopes of spotting Cox’s Daredevil vs. D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, there’s no word on the other cast members at this time.
