Last week, the rapper poked fun at the critic in his direct messages (DMs) on Instagram. The reviewer responded with a comedic video in which he showed several examples of “fake” DMs, and the rapper continued to poke fun at the reviewer.
who is Anthony Fantano?
Anthony Fantano, a music critic from the United States, is the owner of the website and YouTube channel known as The Needle Drop. His writings on his blog and the films he uploads to YouTube discuss and dissect a wide variety of musical styles.
Fantano’s parents were immigrants from Sicily to the United States and he was born in Connecticut. In the mid-2000s, Fantano began working at Southern Connecticut State University’s campus radio station, where he was eventually promoted to music director. In 2007, Fantano began his broadcasting career by becoming the host of The Needle Drop on Connecticut Public Radio.
On Thursday, September 15, the music critic uploaded a video to his second YouTube account titled “Drake Slid Into My DMs.” The video was posted on YouTube by Fantano.
During the eight-minute tape, he posted a number of screenshots and Instagram direct messages (DMs) he said Drake sent to him from his account on Instagram.
He said he was lifting weights in the garage when he was distracted by a message from the One Dance singer. He claimed it happened while he was training.
According to him, Drake, a prominent figure in the music industry and a feisty Canadian, reached out to him. Drake is one of the most influential figures in the music industry.
Music critic says Drake sent cookie recipe
According to Anthony, the following was written in the “odd and unexpected” message: “Anthony! Drizzy is here. I realize you’re not the biggest fan of most of my albums and we don’t always agree on music-related topics.
Before taking an unexpected turn, the post went on to say, “But it is what it is, you know, I can always hope you like the next one.”
The music critic said Drake gave him a vegan cookie recipe he wanted him to try, along with a full list of ingredients. He also claimed that Drake invited him to taste the cookies.
I would be very grateful if you could check this out and let me know if it would be helpful or not for me to try it out for myself. We appreciate you! Drizzy, go! The message has come to an end.
The next words that came out of Anthony’s mouth were: “It’s amazing that he messaged me”, “Praise you” and “You are the best”.
It was extremely obvious that Drake was being sarcastic when he responded to the video saying the screenshots he posted were fake. His reaction was given in a hurry.
Anthony Fantano Bio
Anthony Fantano is a music critic and YouTuber from the United States. He was born on October 28, 1985 and he runs The Needle Drop YouTube channel as well as the website that goes with it. On his website and in his YouTube videos, he discusses and reviews a wide range of musical styles.
Early life
Fantano is of Sicilian descent and was born in the US state of Connecticut. The town of Wolcott, Connecticut was his home throughout his teenage years. Fantano says Jello Biafra, former lead singer of hardcore punk band Dead Kennedys, was “really my political idol” when he was a teenager and the reason he got involved in politics was through the work of musician Jello Biafra.
Career
In the mid-2000s, Fantano began his professional life as the music director of the campus radio station broadcasting from Southern Connecticut State University. In 2007, Fantano began his broadcasting career by taking a job at Connecticut Public Radio (WNPR), where he eventually became the host of The Needle Drop. The same year, he began publishing written reviews under the name The Needle Drop. In January 2009, he began posting a series of video reviews under the same name on a YouTube channel of the same name. His first review was for a Jay Reatard record. According to Fantano, the fact that his review of Flying Lotus’ 2010 album Cosmogramma was posted in the same YouTube “Featured Videos” section as other Flying Lotus videos gave him the “hint” of continue to generate video ratings of albums. Fantano removed previous reviews from its site in 2010 that contained music samples in order to comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and avoid legal issues. During this time, he worked both at a pizza place and at the college radio station, where he hosted a show called “The Needle Drop.” In late 2011, he made the decision to devote all of his time and energy to The Needle Drop, but he continued his affiliation with WNPR until 2014. Fantano turned down the opportunity to host a review show album on the Adult Swim network.
By November 2016, Fantano had started recording more frequently on a secondary YouTube channel known as “thatistheplan”. On that channel, he reviewed memes and recorded “often irreverent videos that don’t fit into the record review format,” according to Spin. This allowed him to earn enough money to pay his publisher Austin Walsh. In October 2017, an article published in The Fader accused Fantano of promoting alt-right beliefs in “that’s the plan” videos. This led to questioning this secondary stream and to being the subject of controversy. The use of memes by Pepe the Frog, who had just been dubbed an alt-right icon, and Fantano’s targeting of feminists drew criticism from the internet community. After the article was published, many scheduled dates for “The Needle Drop” U.S. tour were canceled, and at least one ticket booking site for a Brooklyn tour date said their cancellation was due to the history of Fader. These cancellations occurred after the article was published.
Private life
Fantano resides in Connecticut, and although she filed for divorce from Dominique Boxley in 2022, they were married for a time. Fantano was previously married. After becoming a vegetarian in his late teens, he eventually switched to a vegan diet and has been one ever since.
According to what Fantano shared with Polygon in March 2018, he is a “free speech purist.” In the upcoming presidential election in the United States of America, in 2020, Fantano showed his support for Bernie Sanders.
