Every She-Hulk Costume in Marvel Comics

She-Hulk has been one of Marvel Comics’ most sensational and iconic characters. Since her debut in Savage She-Hulk #1 in 1979, she’s been an essential ally of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. With Jennifer Walters as her alter ego, She-Hulk is a cousin of Hulk aka Bruce Banner. Throughout her many successful comics, she has adorned many superhero costumes. Let’s examine them one by one –

The wild suit

Savage She-Hulk

She-Hulk debuted in a white Savage rag suit. The tattered white costume gave him an edgy and rough look similar to his cousin – Hulk. The look continued for other future issues for the character. It was basically Jen’s original white outfit before her transformation into the savage She-Hulk. Later over time, her look evolved into a much more superhero-friendly costume.

All purple leotard

She-Hulk’s all-purple costume

She-Hulk seemed to like the color purple, or maybe it’s a nod to Hulk’s traditional purple shorts. Regardless, She-Hulk ultimately settled for an all-purple leotard in her first run as a member of the Avengers. The costume actually belonged to Janet Van Dyne (aka The Wasp).

The sensational costume

The Sensational She-Hulk

In the 80s solo series Sensational She-Hulk, Jennifer Walters started breaking the fourth wall during John Byrne’s run. Meanwhile, she wore a changeable version of her classic purple leotard. The dress had a white high neck giving it a classic superhero appearance. This later served as the basis for his A-Force and Fantastic Four costumes.

The A-Force Suit

An alternate version of the dress She-Hulk wore during Byrne’s run, appeared in the A strength comics run. This dress, however, was more angular in design. Additionally, she continued to adore him while leading the all-female superhero team known as the A strength. In addition to the purple bodysuit, the dress had a white high collar, white belt, gloves, and boots.

Fantastic Four Costume

One of She-Hulk’s most memorable costumes is the one she wore when she was part of the The Fantastic Four. Meanwhile, she wore a sleeveless leotard with the team’s signature dark blue and red colors. It was probably the only time she dropped her purple color in her appearance. On top of that, she also wore silver bracelets (like Luke Cage’s) and had a “4” symbol printed in the center in yellow. Earlier when she was part of the team (in the mid-80s), she adopted the team’s classic blue and white color scheme at the time.

The S&H Disguise

She-Hulk’s S and H Suit

For decades, She-Hulk didn’t have any symbols/badges on her costume. However, during the 2010s, in Charles Soule’s comic book series, she was given a large “S” and “H” symbol, on her purple and white sleeveless tight suit. It was also more of a halter top and shorts, instead of the usual leotard. It was a nice redesign for the character that matched the show’s artwork, but like most costumes for Jen, it didn’t last forever.

She-Hulk Bounty Hunter Costume

First introduced in Dan Slott’s follow-up run with She-Hulk #22 in 2005 where she became a bounty hunter. Meanwhile, she was given a white and purple jumpsuit with a pair of purple jeans. She also had tactical gear, completing her modern superhero look.

The Immortal She-Hulk Costume

This design was truly remarkable. This not only embraced the character’s femininity, but also enhanced her muscular physique. This time, She-Hulk was given an armored halter top and shorts that gave her the appearance of a martial artist similar to an MMA fighter. This look was really refreshing, even if it was short-lived. Along with her costume, she also wore mittens and bands around her biceps.

With the introduction of Luke Jacobs as the costume designer for She-Hulk in Marvel’s latest episode She-Hulk: lawyer, we’ll probably see her in her MCU costume soon. Regardless, however, few things are certain – it will contain purple and look appropriate enough to join the new Avengers. Let’s wait and see what look she adorns in her live-action adaptation.
