DC Comics released a few films about many supporting characters in the early 2000s, including catwoman and Jonah Hex before Snyderverse reboot with the Man of Steel. One of the most well-received films at that time was 2005 Constantine with Keanu Reeves and Djimon Hounsou.

The film had fans divided upon release, while praised for going all out on the supernatural aspects of the comics, many were disappointed with John Constantine’s portrayal. The depiction of Keanu Reeves was very different from the comics, as he was not British with blonde hair.
Where is the sequel?
While not comic-accurate, many still hoped for a rich-universe sequel, but that kept getting delayed. Many cast members have expressed interest in reprising their roles, including director Francis Lawrence during an interview with MTV. He said:
“It’s interesting that over the years Constantine seems to have become…like he’s got that kind of cult following, which has been great. He’s been adopted. It would be great to find a following, and if we were doing it, and we tried to find one, it would be great to do the really dark and scary version.

Much to the delight of DC fans, Deadline has confirmed that the sequel is in the works with Keanu Reeves and Francis Lawrence set to return. Considering the director’s intention to go darker and the John Wick actor still looking good, we could see Constantine reach its true potential.
Keanu Reeves predicted the sequel?

The actor has also said he wants to revisit the project on several occasions, including one not too long ago in The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. When asked if there was a character he would play again, Keanu Reeves said: “I would love to play John Constantine.”
