See How They Work: Charlie Cooper and Director Tom George Talk Reinventing Crime (EXCLUSIVE)

BAFTA-winning director Tom George brings thriller like you’ve never seen before.

With a five-star cast including Saoirse Ronan, Sam Rockwell, Adrien Brody, Harris Dickinson, David Oyelowo, Charlie Cooper and Ruth Wilson, See how they work is the brilliant result of a crime novel mixed with a film noir and a comedy, a satire and a tribute to all these different genres.

In 1950s London’s West End, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap is still one of the most popular plays on stage. Hollywood director Leo Kopernik (Adrien Brody) adapts the hit series for the big screen, but his dream is shattered when he is brutally murdered. WWII veteran Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and rookie Agent Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) team up to solve this mysterious case.

With brilliant writing and a screenplay by Mark Chappel, comedic timing and suspense, See how they work will be a true delight for murder mystery fans. And if you love Wes Anderson, some of the shots might very well remind you of something we might have seen in The Grand Budapest Hotel. However, Tom George and Mark Chappel take on and completely reinvent the thriller genre with this multi-layered story in their own unique and original way.

Leo Kopernik’s opening monologue and recurring voiceover throughout the film are every bit as hilarious as it takes to prove that See how they work isn’t your traditional behind-the-scenes murder mystery, solved by a skilled, detail-oriented detective. Thrillers are great, but when they look like See how they workthey prove that this beloved and well-known genre can still surprise us in the best possible way.

Tom George explained:

It was a chance to take whodunit, which is such a familiar type of story to an audience, and then find a way to put our own unique spin on it. And not just in terms of the plot being something we’ve never seen before, but the ability to combine the thriller element and the comic.
