Nolan Arenado was born in Newport Beach, California to his parents, mother Millie Arenado and father Fernando Arenado.
He was born and raised in Laguna Hills, a town in Orange County, and Lake Forest, a town between Irvine, Mission Viejo and Laguna Hills.
Her mother, Millie, from Queens, New York, is of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent, while her father, Fernando, is of Cuban descent.
Nolan’s younger brother, Jonah, was a cornerback with the San Francisco Giants, and he has an older brother named Fernando Jr.
He played shortstop for El Toro High School in Lake Forest with future major leaguer teammates Austin Romine and Matt Chapman.
Arenado was selected to the Los Angeles Times All-Star Team after leading his division with an average of .456, 32 RBI and 33 runs scored.

Jonah Arenado attended El Toro High School, the same school as his older brother Nolan. His performance in high school baseball prepared him for his professional baseball career when the San Francisco Giants selected him in the 16th round of the 2013 entry draft.
Jonah was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the first round of the 2013 MLB Draft from El Toro High School based on his professional recognition, physical strength and potential for power development.
Later that same year, he began his professional baseball career with the AZL Giants, a team that competes as a rookie-level affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Jonah was observed by Brad Cameron.
