Based on the Image Comics series of the same name, Invincible is a superhero story that pits JK Simmons’ Omni-Man – a twisted Superman pastiche – against his own super-powered son, Steven Yeun’s Mark Grayson aka Invincible. The first season was released on Prime Video in early 2021.
Seasons 2 and 3 of Invincible have both been greenlit, and based on Khary Payton’s new comments, it looks like work is mostly done on Season 2, with Season 3 currently in production.
During a recent interview with The Movie Dweeb, Khary Payton confirmed that the cast of Invincible had finished recording season 2 and was now working on season 3.
The actor said release dates for upcoming seasons now depend on when they are able to complete animation work on taped episodes. However, Payton suggested there wouldn’t be as much of a wait between the two seasons as there was between. Invincible Seasons 1 and 2.
Speaking about the upcoming seasons, Khary Payton said:
“We’re done with season 2, we’re going into season 3. But it’s so hard to say right now. There was an overabundance of animation studios trying to do so many things, and literally, it’s was like projects sitting there with a backpack full of, you know, stuff like ‘whenever you’re ready.’ You know what I mean?
“But there was literally a line for really big studios to do this work. So, honestly, I can’t tell you. I’m dying to…I’m so glad they lit the green light [Seasons] 2 and 3 at the same time. This means that when 3 comes out, it will feel like next season, not a lifetime.
“But, yes, it will take time. I wish I could say the opposite. But I’ve done enough animation to know that… to do it right, you draw every panel, you know? »
Although it looks like fans still have a while to wait before they can see more.
