Don Cheadle’s War Machine Set to Return to the MCU on Disney Plus in Both Secret Invasion and Armor Wars and now Marvel has confirmed the character will be donning new armor.
Rhodey was last seen dressing up as War Machine Avengers: Endgamealthough he has since made an appearance without his armor in the Disney Plus series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He will next be seen alongside Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in Secret Invasion before leading Armor Wars.
New details shared by Marvel Studios confirm that Armor Wars will live up to its title promise and feature Rhodey in an array of new War Machine armor.
An official press release from Marvel Studios after D23 Expo confirmed that Don Cheadle’s Rhodey will be donning new costumes as War Machine when Armor Wars is coming to Disney Plus.
Throughout his time in the MCU, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark has created a huge array of Iron Man suits for himself. Rhodey has also been seen in a few different variations of his War Machine armor, although it looks like fans will be seeing more variations on Rhodey’s costume in Armor Wars.
According to Marvel’s press release:
“Rhodey fans will see the character in a whole new light, and given the title of the series, audiences can expect all-new costumes for the hero, complete with different types of armor.”
It’s likely that Don Cheadle’s Rhodey won’t be the only character to dress up, either. The official description of the series teases Armor Wars will feature Tony Stark’s tech falling into the wrong hands, just like in the comics that inspired the series, so fans should expect to see Rhodey face armored opponents.
Here’s the official synopsis for Don Cheadle’s final MCU appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier:
