Patrick Dangerfield is considered one of the best in Australian rules football.
He won the Brownlow Medal, the Leigh Matthews Trophy and the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award after making his professional debut in 2008. Additionally, Dangerfield won three Malcolm Blight Medals and three Carji Greeves Medals.
Patrick has also won numerous media honours, been an All-Australian eight times and played four times for Australia in the International Rules Series. Dangerfield is also president of the organization (AFLPA).
Player career
Adelaide Football Club (2008 to 2011)
Dangerfield was selected in the 2007 draft by Adelaide. He played 154 games with the team and scored 163 goals.
With Adelaide, he won the NAB cup in 2012. However, he won many individual awards during his tenure.
Dangerfield had his best AFL season as a Crow in 2015, averaging 26.8 eliminations and one goal per game while scoring 21 goals overall. He was third in inside 50s, fifth in clearances (165) and led his club in eliminations with 617, ranking them 10th in the league (114).
Geelong Football Club (2016–present)
Dangerfield was an experienced player coming into the Geelong squad. In 2016, he was awarded the Brownlow Medal as the league’s fairest and best player while paying for the Geelong team.
He played 147 games and scored 151 goals for the team. With Geelong he won the McClelland Trophy in 2019.
In total, Dangerfield appeared in 301 matches. Moreover, he has scored 314 career goals which makes him a total legend in the sport.
It took the AFL star 14 years and four days to reach the milestone. During his prolific career, he achieved 230 Brownlow Medal votes and captained 22 times, 11 for Adelaide Crows and 11 for Geelong.
He is the only AFL player to have received three votes for the Brownlow Medal in a match against all AFL teams.
