Doom Patrol is officially back for a fourth season, and a first image reveals new cast member Madeline Zima as Casey Brinke, aka Space Case.
Season 4 of the HBO Max DC series is set to introduce Casey Brinke to the already chaotic world of doom world. The character is one of the strangest additions to the team in the comics, appearing in Gerard Way and Nick Derrington’s recent series.
Madeline Zima, whose previous credits include You, twin peaks and Bombwill bring Casey to life in the HBO Max series.
In the Doom Patrol comics, Casey Brinke is originally created as a comic book character by the sentient street called Danny, but Danny later manages to turn Casey into a real living being.
Doom Patrol Showrunner Jeremy Carver spoke to EW about Casey Brinke’s arrival on the show, saying, “Casey is so loved by both our staff writers and Doom Patrol fans in general. We finally found a way to bring her into the story in a way that feels completely organic to us, although to someone who’s never seen Doom Patrol it might seem a bit crazy. it’s not just a cameo.

Casey’s origin as a creation of Danny the Street gives him a unique connection to the sensitive street. Carver promised Doom Patrol Season 4 will include “a very special episode” about Danny and the Danny-zens, so it looks like his connection to the living street will be explored on the show.

DOOM PATROL is a reimagining of one of DC’s most beloved outcast superhero groups: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl, and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (the leader ). Members of the Doom Patrol each suffered horrific accidents that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through the leader, who brought them together to investigate the strangest phenomena in existence and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part superhero team, the Doom Patrol is a group of super-powered monsters who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called into action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission difficult to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never be the same again.
