John Williams, Oscar-winning composer of star wars received an honorary knighthood from the Queen before his death.
Few film composers are as recognized as John Williams. Most notable for his film scores which include the likes of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and many more, he was nominated for 52 Oscars, winning five; six Emmy Awards, winning 3; and 72 Grammy Awards, winning 25. Now he received a new honor: Honorary Knighthood.
Queen Elizabeth II awarded John Williams an honorary knighthood, making star wars composer one of the last recipients bestowed by the Queen before her death. Former Disney CEO Bob Iger and frequent Williams collaborator Steven Spielberg also received honorary knighthoods. Unlike British nationals, recipients are not entitled to call themselves “Sir” or “Lady”.
John Williams returned to star wars universe to compose a new original theme for the Obi Wan Kenobi series. His next film scores include Steven Spielberg The Fabelmans and the untitled fifth IndianaJones film by director James Mangold.
