Daredevil: Born Again Star Charlie Cox has discussed whether or not the Netflix original series is canon.
Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have returned as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin respectively in Spider-Man: No Coming Home and Hawk Eye respectively last year. Now the two are set to return for an all-new series titled Daredevil: born again, which will be their first time as main characters on their own series since the Netflix original series was canceled in 2018.
With Charlie Cox returning to the role, some are curious if the first three seasons of the Netflix original series will be canonical for the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe. But while at the D23 Expo, Cox spoke to ScreenRant and explained how he sees the upcoming show compared to the original:
“Yeah, I don’t know. But my instinct is based on the name of the show, it’s called Born Again, the fact… that Kevin [Feige] talk about it as a season 1 rather than a season 4, my feeling is that it’s a whole new deal.
Fans are still speculating on whether or not the events of the original Netflix series will factor into the MCU canon. Some have expressed hope that since the show, with people like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Defenders, and The Punisher will be implemented given that they have all moved to Disney Plus as their new streaming home. However, Charlie Cox’s comments suggest that this Daredevil: Born Again could be a soft reboot from source.
That’s not to say the show will completely abandon what was established in Netflix’s original three seasons. A recent report claimed that actor Elden Henson would reprise his role as Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again, bringing together Nelson and Murdock: Attorneys at Law.
Charlie Cox can next be seen as Daredevil in She-Hulk: Lawyer. Here is the synopsis of the show:
“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law follows Jennifer Walters as she navigates the complicated life of a single thirty-something lawyer who also happens to be a 6-foot-7 green superpowered hulk.”
Marvel Studios’ She-Hulk: Lawyer stars Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Benedict Wong, Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
New episodes of She-Hulk: Lawyer premiering every Thursday on Disney Plus, while Daredevil: Born Again set to arrive in 2024. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming MCU series and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
