The 60-year-old American said he was proud to have created relaxing content where employees can go home and relax without tense situations of sexual activity and/or violence interrupting him.
The statements subtly delved into current films that often and heavily focus on tense situations of violence or sexual activity.
“I’ve gotten so many letters to Hallmark about people saying they’re coming home from work and they’re having a rough day and they can turn on our channel and only have two hours they had not thinking about dark situations, about violence, about sexual situations, about things that just…create anxiety,”
Bill Abbott served as CEO of Crown Media from 2009 to 2021, during which time he set expectations for the Hallmark Channel quite high. Featuring Christmas related movies and shows, the channel has been one of the most popular channels to date, made possible by Bill Abbott.

Hallmark had to move forward with Times, says Bill Abbott
It was 2020 when Hallmark announced that they would be making movies that would shift the focus from family to the type of content that included “diversity and inclusion.” The decision prompted Bill Abbott to leave the company and join rival GAC Media which he says is “solely for professional reasons”.
Since leaving and joining GAC Media, Bill Abbott has created an environment at GAC Media very similar to the one he had at Hallmark. GAC Media is now creating the family content that Hallmark was known for as an all-out civil war broke out in the entertainment world.
