What does the brooch worn by the criminals in House Of The Dragon mean?

Dragon House Episode 6 was pretty crazy. Much had changed during the ten-year time jump. However, the audience could barely let that sink in. The episode hit us with action and shock with every passing minute. Episode 6 was arguably the most eventful episode of House of the Dragon to date. He has seen everything from birth, death, dragons and even murders. Kinslaying refers to the act of murdering one’s own family members. In Episode 6, Lord Larys Strong was guilty of this. We’re going to explore a special pin related to House Beesbury that was seen in the episode.

After the rumors surrounding Rhaenyra and Ser Harwin Strong began to spiral out of control, Ser Lyonel Strong attempted to relinquish his position as Hand of the King. Also, Ser Harwin Strong had a fight with Ser Criston Cole right in front of the King and all. Although I think Ser Criston deserved a few punches to the face. Nevertheless, Ser Harwin Strong was fired from City Watch. With this, Lyonel Strong decided to take his son, Harwin, and return to Harrenhal.

Larys Strong, on behalf of Queen Alicent, decides to send a gang of criminals to set Harrenhal on fire and burn alive his father Lyonel Strong and his brother Harwin Strong. He even cut out the tongues of the criminals so they could never talk about what happened. So they left for Harrenhal. But before they set the place on fire, we see a photo of them waiting in the shadows. Here you can clearly see that they are wearing brooches that look like bees.

Well, you might be wondering why they would zoom in on the pin since it looks insignificant. In reality, the spit could be a brilliant tactic from Lord Larys. After all, this brooch bears the seal of House Beesbury. Do you remember Lord Beesbury of the King’s Little Council?

House Beesbury is located in Honeyholt, on the banks of the Honeywine River. Its coat of arms is made up of yellow and black stripes in the background as well as three yellow beehives arranged in a column in the middle against the black stripe. His motto is literally “Be aware of our sting”. So I guess you understand why the brooch is associated with House Beesbury which has Lord Lyman Beesbury at its head.

What is Lord Larys Strong planning by planting the spit?

As we saw in this episode, Lord Larys Strong is happy to pitch in on behalf of Queen Alicent. He is clearly the Greens’ greatest ally. In fact, with Queen Alicent being blissfully oblivious and Lord Larys Strong doing the dirty work, it gives her plausible deniability. Who wouldn’t love that then! Now, the main reason was obviously similar to why he cut out their tongues. This accident, even if revealed as a murder, should not be traced back to him or Alicent. So what better way to make sure than to frame another house. Thus the brooch bearing the seal of House Beesbury.

The second and brightest reason to date is that Lord Lyman Beesbury is the only man in the Little Council who supports black people. He believes that Princess Rhaenyra is the rightful heiress and that the king’s decree must be upheld. By implicating House Beesbury in this crime, he would kill two birds with one stone, perhaps even literally. Even in the books, Lord Larys and Ser Criston Cole manage to get rid of all the black people in the court, including Lord Beesbury. The idea behind it just shows how smart, cunning and far-sighted Lord Larys Strong is. In fact, he turns out to be Queen Alicent’s and the Greens’ greatest asset.
